Cenforce, Vidalista, Vilitra & Avana are drugs belonging to the family of 5-phosphodiesterase (5PDE) enzyme inhibitors. These well-known Trade Names correspond to 4 different active ingredients: sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra) and avanafil (Speedra).
These drugs have demonstrated specific effectiveness in stimulating penile erection and have revolutionized the medical treatment of erectile dysfunction. Let’s try to figure out if there are significant differences between these 4 drugs in terms of efficacy, method of application, rate of onset of pharmacological action and duration of therapeutic effect.
Treatment Of Erectile Dysfunction
An erection is mainly maintained by increasing blood flow to the cavernous bodies of the penis. In fact, this is a complex phenomenon that requires the integrity of the nervous system and anatomical structures of the penis, in addition to the vascular system, and it is influenced by psychological and hormonal aspects. A possible problem in one of these areas can determine the onset of erectile dysfunction. In fact, impotence is classified based on its cause as vasculogenic, neurogenic, psychogenic, hormonal, etc.
Treatment of erectile dysfunction should, if possible, be aimed directly at eliminating the cause. Since in clinical reality this is possible only in a limited number of cases, since the causes are often not easy to recognize or they are multifactorial, it is possible to resort to drug therapy aimed at eliminating the disorder (symptom) regardless of the cause that caused it.: This symptomatic pharmacological therapy is based precisely on the use of 5FDE inhibitor drugs. Therefore, it is extremely important that these drugs are always used only after a thorough medical examination aimed at identifying any preventable causes of impotence.
How Do These Pills Work?
One of the main chemical mediators of erection is nitric oxide (NO). This molecule is able to trigger a complex chain of chemical reactions that eventually leads to relaxation of the smooth muscle cells of the vessels of the penis. Relaxation of the vessel walls causes vasodilation, which is necessary to facilitate blood flow to the penis. The drugs in question are capable of inhibiting a specific enzyme (5-phosphodiesterase) involved in the degradation of one of the chemical mediators involved in this chain.
Nitric oxide is released from the nerve endings located in the penis after sexual stimulation. Since 5FDE inhibitor drugs can prolong the effect of nitric oxide, but not its “secretion”, it is obvious that the effect of these drugs on erection cannot be independent of sexual stimulation. Thus, Cenforce, Vidalista, Vilitra, and Avana are not able to cause spontaneous erection: if sexual intercourse does not occur at the penile level after taking them, no changes are observed.
Therapeutic Effectiveness:
Drug therapy is considered effective if it allows you to achieve an erection sufficient for penetration. All 4 drugs under consideration — in the studies in which they were tested — demonstrated very high efficacy, varying from 60 to 90% of cases, depending on the severity of erectile dysfunction. To date, there are no serious scientific studies comparing the effectiveness of one of these drugs with others. In general, given the large patient population, it can be concluded that the effectiveness is approximately the same, and there is not a single drug that would be more effective than others. However, in a particular patient, it may happen that one drug will give better results than another, and therefore it may be convenient to try more drugs if the response is not completely satisfactory.
Speed Of Action:
However, there are significant differences in the rate of therapeutic effect between the various drugs under consideration. In the case of Cenforce sildenafil , the effect begins about 30 minutes after ingestion, and the peak of therapeutic effectiveness occurs after another 30 minutes. Therefore, it is recommended to take sildenafil about 1 hour before sexual intercourse. The rate of action of Vilitra vardenafil It is very similar to the rate of action of sildenafil, so the same recommendations apply to it.
Avana Avanafil is characterized by a faster onset of therapeutic effect: the onset of action occurs 15 minutes after administration, and the peak of effectiveness occurs after 30 minutes. This feature makes Avana especially suitable for unplanned sexual intercourse and those that are resolved at the last minute: just “wait” for about half an hour — perhaps devoting yourself to foreplay (!) — before proceeding with penetration.
On the contrary, Vidalista tadalafil is the slowest among 5FDE inhibitors: even if the therapeutic effect begins to manifest itself 30-40 minutes after administration, its peak is reached only after 2 hours. This means that it is advisable to start sexual intercourse no earlier than two hours after taking the drug.
If the rate of action is very important for the patient, the possibility of using orally soluble / orodisperse forms of 5-PDE inhibitors may be considered. These drugs dissolve quickly in the mouth, are directly absorbed by the mucous membranes and enter the bloodstream (thus bypassing the stages of gastric absorption and portal circulation). There is a mouth-dispersible drug Tastylia on the market, as well as some drugs containing sildenafil formed in the form of thin mouth-dispersible Penerect films.
Duration Of Therapeutic Effect:
If we analyze the duration of the therapeutic effect of the four drugs under consideration, we will see that Vidalista tadalafil is the undisputed winner: its therapeutic effect actually lasts up to about 36 hours (!) after administration and — thanks to this feature — it has “earned” the nickname “weekend pill”. To assess the duration of action of a drug, its “half-life” is usually used, which corresponds to the time required for the body to remove half of the drug from the bloodstream.
The half-life of Vidalista is 17 hours and is significantly longer than that of other 5FDE inhibitors: Cenforce and Vilitra have a half—life of about 3 hours, while Avana has a half-life of 6 hours.
On-Demand Or Permanent Employment?
The typical use of these drugs is defined as “on demand”: they are taken only when sexual intercourse is planned. Due to its pharmacokinetic properties, only Vidalista can be used continuously. Using the fact that its therapeutic effect lasts for more than 24 hours, Vidalista can be taken daily (at a lower dosage than required when taken on demand) to ensure “consistent” therapeutic effectiveness throughout the day. Such continuous use is recommended for patients who have frequent sexual intercourse, and has a noticeable advantage in the form of a feeling of more “natural” sexuality: there is no need to “plan” sexual intercourse, since the drug is always active. The disadvantage of this type of therapy is only the economic aspect.
Can Food & Alcohol Affect Performance?
It is useful to know that 5FDE inhibitor drugs can be significantly less effective if taken with or immediately after a meal, especially if the food is fatty and accompanied by alcoholic beverages. This is especially true for Cenforce and Vilitra: In order not to reduce their effectiveness, these drugs should be taken with meals! Vidalista is the least affected by food and alcohol.
